[meta] Are the trolls here pushing their point of view or are they just attention seekers alone?

I'm sure that some of the people who post negative things here are sincerely thinking they're doing some good, or at least getting their point heard, even though there's tons of better way of doing it. But I wonder if some of these trolls are just doing it because they can, and don't really have a point of view, just one that's contrary to get attention. Do they go to vegan boards and post positive things about bacon there? Or do they really believe they're making a difference?

Bill Baily is the real name of Guns and Roses front man Axl Rose, which, in relation to Slash is why he seems to use the name.

That's a good thing, in my opinion. A lot of us came here with our notions of what was healthy being destroyed and learning how the body really works. I'm sure there's a lot of vegans like that as well. We all need to hear things we don't agree, as well as trying to find counter arguments for what we agree on as well. I think were all here because we've rejected the "common knowledge" out there. I appreciate a well thought out discussion and not just a "nuh-uh! You suck!" posting like we get sometimes. And honestly, there's a lot of overlap. Eat veggies, don't mistreat animals, etc.

Well I can't speak for all, certainly not that Bill Bailey guy who just posts pictures of Slash and links to his Youtube videos.

But for me I come on here sometimes when I run across a critique that seems to do an exceptional job at critiquing the paleo lifestyle. Not that I claim to be some virtuous warrior by any means, but usually because I'm genuinely curious as to how someone who is Paleo responds to seemingly conclusive evidence which opposes their point of view.

I've actually seen some pretty good almost trolling posts by some people, especially of the v*gan related ilk.

However, yeah: internet trolls are just internet trolls - they are there to get some personal thrill getting peoples' collective goats. Your example is apt: they are just as likely to post v*gan stuff here, as they are to post about bacon-ice-cream topped with veal-sprinkles on a v*gan board.

My eternal advice: always ignore the trolls. Just vote to close the post, don't even downvote, and move along - they thrive off attention.

You mean Bill Bailey/Adam Veritas?

Either he is bored or an attention seeker. But one thing for sure - he needs help. Paleohacks is not the right place to get help for people with problems like that. He actually needs to admit to himself first that he needs help.

At first I thought he was just bored and was looking for entertainment. Now I think he is in a serious situation. However, if he does not seek for help himself - there is nothing I can do. All I can do is vote to close his questions. I wish I could notify his parents.

If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them because if there is something we can do, I think we should at least try.

Bill Bailey is a British comedian, so I assume whoever that is, is really just a troll.
