Anyone interested in joining a new Paleo social networking site?

I did some looking around and could not find any sites that catered exclusively to people living the Paleo lifestyle so I thought I would build one.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A COMPETITOR TO PALEOHACKS. In fact, I link to PaleoHacks as one of the best resources on the web.

I am not a web developer so the site is still pretty simplistic but the idea is that we would create local groups that would function as a way for people to share stories, photos, create meet ups, discuss restaurants, post pictures, etc.

I was really hoping that some of you would be willing to join the site and give me suggestions for content, features and functionality. I could also use ideas for more local groups and would really like to find people who would like to be leaders of those groups. If you also happen to be a WordPress developer and would like to help, I could really use it. ;-)

Here is the basic description of the site:

The purpose of this site is to help like-minded people connect, meet up, share stories, share recipes and in general, help each other.

This is a non-judgmental site. We don???t care if you are just trying to learn more, are just starting on this journey or have been living the Paleo lifestyle for years. As long as you are nice, you are welcome to express your opinion and interact with other members. People who are not nice will be asked to leave or just banned.

Please look through the Groups section to see if there is a local group for you to join.

If you cannot find one please fill out the group request form and we will create a group for you. If you would like to be the local organizer we can set you up as the group leader.

If you would like a feature, group or forum added to this site please friend me and send me a private message. I will do my best to accommodate you.

Please check the site out at http://www.paleopeeps.org

Thanks a lot!

There is a "community" menu on the Forum main page, with groups, etc. You can also PM members & I have had lots of contact with other forum members.

@Dragonfly - I thought that was more of just a forums site as opposed to a collection of local groups where people could organize and social network. Am I missing something? It seems like it is missing a lot of functionality in terms of social networking. Thanks for you comment.

I hear ya. That is exactly what this site is meant to be, a place for like minded folks to find each other locally.

It is not really meant to be pretentious and is meant to provide different functionality that Facebook and PaleoHacks. Thanks for your comments though.

It is meant to be very much like Facebook (you can even join with your Facebook account) but hopefully with some slightly different functionality. It also is missing some of the functionality of Facebook like tagging pictures. I am hoping to find a plugin for that soon but I have been having a hard time with that one.

I like EPLifeFit but I guess the difference is that Paleo Peeps is not meant to be a commercial venture. I have no problem wit people creating businesses based on Paleo, that is just not what I am trying to do here.

No, thanks. I belong to a country club already and get enough pretentiousness there.

Have you heard of Facebook.com? What about paleohacks.com? There you go.

I'm interested if it's like facebook. I'm looking for somewhere like FB, where you have your profile page and groups and things. Although with the addition of a forum. Something like that.

EPLifeFit is very much a "paleo social networking site" in addition to being a personal trainer and nutrition coach.
