Women: Opinion on Men's Hands??

Commented on December 10, 2014
Created April 23, 2013 at 4:35 PM

Just a simple question for all the single ladies...or any ladies...or Beyonce:

Do you prefer your man's hands to be rough, broken and callousy (strong indication they are active at work/gym/life) or soft and smooth (may be active but take steps to keep smooth)?

I used to wear gloves at the gym to keep em nice, Paleo has made me go back to my primal ways and now my hands are kinda jacked up. I know everyone is different but wondering what the Paleo women think about this. Thanks!

I am not sure why certain men's hands are so attractive. I don't like rough, big hands. Makes me think of an uneducated blue-collar type (no offense). It's not a conscious thing. I prefer well-kept, medium size hands with more slender fingers. Although as I'm writing this, I recall finding this one man's hands that were muscular and veined really attractive. I don't like fat stubby small hands or feminine hands on a man. It goes without saying that dirty, gross hands with torn up cuticles are NOT appealing what-so-ever. I don't like a lot of hair on men at all. Some hair is nice, but not like an ape.

Stephen, thank you so much - you are so incredibly sweet. As for re-opening my question, it is okay, because I don't think people would answer it anyway. I just wanted to know what kind of office layout is more Paleo-compatible. Thanks again!

@vb, if you link to it I'll vote to reopen it, if some angry mods deleted it that day you should post it again. I don't think paleo questions have to just refer to food and diet, even though they typically seem to.

lol .. @ u wearing gloves to keep ur hands.. nice ..:) hehe.. its the thick veins on top of the hands that make the hands manlier IMO. Callouses are fine to a certain degree-just buff them with a rotary sander..eheh. most important keep neat, clipped, well groomed nails. You can buff them to a shine too if u like.. lol jk. Dont be scared to moisturize thats fine too :) shea butters paleo :P

#1 What is "on-topic" exactly? I want the opinion of Paleo-minded women on this subject. Is it crucial to survival or does it talk about weight loss/what my body can digest? No. Am I (and apparently others) curious about it? Yes #2 I'm not worried about girl who won't date me because of my hands. Just curious as to how women feel about this. Now I know most women (on here at least on here) prefer some kind of rough

If a girl is not going to date you because your palms are rough from doing work, are you sure she's the type of girl you want to be dating in the first place?

My father was an oarsman and a sailor and so am I, and when I was a young boy I asked him why his palms were so rough, and he told me that "callouses build character." Kind of lame but also kind of true when you think about it. Alos, Is a girl who won't date you because of the texture of your palms really someone you want to be dating in the first place?

My question about Paleo open plan office was closed even though it was very Paleo to share the same open plan cave. This question is about personal preferences, not even about Paleo (we all know that HG do not moisturize). Why the double standards?

I like the rough hands. It goes with my overall type of blue collar intellectual. Thinking back to the guys I used to date, my favorites all had rough hands.

I might me mistaken, but I think women care about guys as a whole, not as a bunch of parts/organs put together. If she is in love with him - who cares if he even has hands, as long as he has a more vital organ intact and active. And by that vital organ I mean his brain. It would be nice, of course, if he still had his hands and they were attached and fully functional, but it is not essential.

I think hands are just a part of a total package and personality is the key there.

I have to admit though I don't really like metrosexual guys with manicure and facials. I think they are pushing it just a bit.

The first time I shook hands with a guy whose hands felt smoother than mine I was totally thrown off.

It was for an interview with a suit, my first week in the city and the first time I had ever came across a guy who apparently thought it was important to moisturize. Coming from a small town, it just seemed reallllly weird to me, and kind of, well, feminine. Maybe thats just me though :).

Wow. Not only do I NOT wear gloves at the gym, but I have a specific routine every spring to REBUILD the calluses I have lost over the winter-mostly hand splitting all of the firewood I will use for bonfires in the summer, plus a couple cords to sell in the fall. Chicks want manly men, not soft-handed sissies!

but if i was holding hands, i'd like them to be soft and not so rough that they cut me.

Okay, so there's handsome-rough, and then there's ragged-ouch-don't-touch-me. Work-worn hands are nice, but make sure you pumice those callouses down a little so they aren't dangerous.

And now you can feel bad for all us girls who are trying to keep decent hands while lifting heavy. Can't wear gloves, bc my hands are too small and I can't even grip the bar. I've duct taped, but that gets burdensome. Pumice stone in the shower does wonders!

I get the feeling the consensous is pretty clear but I'll add my 2 cents to up the numbers. I associate roughage with manliness, strength etc and there's something warming & comforting about a man who can hold your hands in his and make you feel safe. I don't want to be holding the hands of a teenage boy afterall... with the softness of a baby's bum

Clean, cut nails are a must though as I'm sure a male would expect that of a female in return.
