I've been finding myself feeling sleepy even after I've had 8 hours of sleep. I'd sleep more if I could but my body cannot do more than 8.
I've stopped vitamins, especially D, after 6pm. I try not to sleep with a full or empty stomach. My room is dark and I keep all electronics out of my room except for an electric clock radio.
I wake up a couple of times in the night and fall back asleep. It use to be worse. I started to add a little tea to my days to keep mentally alert but I have to be careful as caffeine makes it worse for my sleep and heart pounding adrenals.
My job can be physical and that keeps me awake. But when I do more menial tasks I get very sleepy.
Why can't I keep awake during the day and asleep at night? Should I consider nootropics or do they have a rebound effect like caffeine?

Do a sleep study. You could have sleep apnea.
