Won't be able to sleep...Hack my life!

I'll be activated with my National Guard unit for a little over a week. I have to come in and work at night at my regular job in order to make ends meet (Thanks, Army). I won't be able to sleep much. I'm looking at a few hours a night for 8 days.

Any ideas of how I can optimize my mind and body during this tulmutuous time?

Not too many things you can do.?? Meditate as much as you can, be careful when driving, you may get into microsleeps and crash your car.

 

Take antioxidants when you can and stuff to lower cortisol.?? Glutathione can help a bit.

 

The biggest part of sleep is clearing out the junk from brain cells, and memory consolidation, it's hard to replace that when not sleeping.

 

Isn't your job supped to understand and not make you come in?

In an ideal world, we'd all make enough money to not have to worry when the military require this time. But, as it is, I won't have to come in if I don't want a paycheck, which I need.

Personally, coffee is the only thing that helps in this situation. That's all you can do at the moment. Just don't overdo it (try to stay under 4 cups per day) and make sure you get plenty of rest on the days off.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely be limiting my caffeine intake.
