This might not be a strictly Paleo related question but I figured I'd ask anyway since this is a great place for advice on general health issues, not just nutrition.
I have this strange problem where I have to sleep between 10-13 hours per night in order to feel refreshed when I wake up. I usually wake up without an alarm clock after a normal amount of sleep (7-9 hours) then feel like an absolute zombie and either fall asleep again for up to 4 hours or have to lie in bed for an hour before I can get out of bed feeling normal. I also suffer from insomnia if I go to bed too early, to the point where I am afraid to go to bed before say, 2 am. But as long as I go to bed late enough, I can fall asleep without a problem.
I know it's quite possible I suffer from delayed sleep syndrome, but that doesn't explain why I need such an abnormal amount of sleep. I've seen a doctor about this and he seemed to think it's just a normal thing I have to live with.
Keep in mind this isn't conventional oversleeping where you feel sluggish and horrible, as if you hadn't slept at all. This is sleeping for too long to feel NORMAL. I've looked online and can't find much of anything about this issue since people more commonly suffer from sleep deprivation.
