My wife is going to need to take a year off work for health reasons, and the only way to make up the loss in income is for me to take a graveyard position at my job for a couple of years. It'll probably be 9pm-5am.
Now I know that on the paleo-ladder going against the sleeping patterns man has evolved with ranks somewhere around soybean oil glazed cinnamon buns, but I'm fortunate to have a job at all with the way things are in my area so I need to bite the bullet here.
I've done a search on the site and there are similar questions, but can only really discern that my cortisol levels will become messed up and that I need to emulate night conditions before sleep (melatonin and magnesium?) and get as much sunlight as possible.
I follow more of a PHD-leaning diet and usually have the bulk of my carbs about 4 hours before bed and sleep like a baby every night. I also follow IF most of the time, 18/6 six or seven days a week. Does IF work on a graveyard shift?
Any advice for someone who has made the switch?
