Can Paleo Affect Skin's Reaction to Sunlight?

This is my first spring on paleo and my skin is reacting differently to sun exposure. Usually, my sunburns just turn back to pale, freckly skin, but after being outside all day Saturday, my face got tan. In the past, I'd have to be in the sun all summer to get tan. Then Wednesday, I laid out and got a little sunburned which is now turning into more of a tan.

Also, when I laid out Wednesday, I got some sun poisoning along with the burn. I only laid out for 2 hours.... In the past I've only ever gotten sun poisoning from being in the sun for the entire day.

My body is obviously more reactive to sun exposure.. Is it because I'm eating differently?

@daz No I stopped taking D3 a couple months ago. Maybe now I have the nutrients to support D synthesis though?

@andrew Getting sick from too much sun. Last Wednesday I had diarrhea a couple hours after I was out of the sun. It sucks. I've had it many times before.

have you been taking vit D3 (& you were not taking before)...that could be the difference...?

(anecdotally, it seemed to make a difference to my skin > easier to tan without burning)

I also notice this. I have a pale skin which used to go red, then rapidly fade back to pale. Now, it goes tan quite easily and the tan lasts. I put this down to my higher sat fat intake and, presumably, more cholesterol on the surface of my skin, enabling more vitamin D to be synthesised. I don't know of course, but it is all I can think of!

I guess you are supplementing Vitamin D3. The symptoms or changes you are suggesting are due to supplementing Vitamin D3.

There are also more symptoms associated with excess of Vitamin D3 like feeling thirsty, feeling sick, constipation or diarrhea.
