Do you like to slouch or recline at work?

I was starting to wonder if I was hurting more than just my career opportunities by taking full advantage of the reclining desk chairs provided at work until I came across this study: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/15939377/ns/health-health_care/#.UlwpkVBwpng

My supervisors and co-workers have repeatedly advised against reclining (though I don't think they had my back health in mind) but now I have this printed and posted to my cubical wall in case anyone gives me guff about it again.

That's good advice. I switch between the reclined position and sitting straight and slouching all the time. I'd say I recline roughly 20% of the work day, just to give my back a rest without looking too lazy.

if your interested you could take a look at mobility wod, pretty sure they have a few videos on seated posture. i think a lot of it is about hip positioning and stabilizer muscles.(either way its considered worse than standing) although standing in 1 position probably isnt too wise either.....sadface.

if only we had a full mobile computer you could use while standing/moving.

Katy Bowman (a self-proclaimed exercise and postural expert) asserts that spending too long in *any* one position is bad for your body. She recommends moving throughout the day.
