Feeling sick on the paleo diet

In the past few days, my stomach has felt off. I went to join my friend for breakfast one morning and I felt nauseous for the first time. It went away but I still felt little instances of it in the next few days. I've also been sensitive lately to fruit and nuts. It has been causing me to have bad gas. Last night I felt like I had know energy for anything and I went to bed last night shivering. Also my insomnia kicked it and I barely got any sleep. I just woke up this morning about to go to work, I have no appetite not even for protein or fat which usually makes me feel better right away and my stomach feeling off with the occasional pain.

My partner had a similar experience after antibiotic treatment. We fixed it with two months of probiotic supplements.

I eat eggs and salad for breakfast, usually chicken and veggies for lunch and either beef, chicken or fish with veggies for dinner. I usually take fish oils in the morning and a few weeks ago I was on antibiotics for a pericing infection. Right now my stomach is much worse then before.

Honestly, you sound as if you have a stomach virus. Try living on chicken broth and whatever you can actually digest till it passes.

Sounds like you're sick, which can happen on any diet, including a paleo one. Despite being totally awesome, a paleo diet will not prevent you from ever getting sick or dying.

I truly think the sickness is caused by a lack of internal flora due to the antibiotic use. Use a powerful Probiotic and all should be well after a month or two. Make sure the probiotic contains FOS, or Fructoogliosacharrides. Those act as a prebiotic and stimulate production of your OWN internal flora as well. GOOD LUCK!

A year ago I was put on an antibiotic, and 4 weeks later was in the throws of full blown hemolytic anemia which turned out to be a severe drug reaction to the antibiotic. I was sick, sick, sick. It took weeks to manifest fully, and months to recover from. The hemo-oncologist who treated me said it was not that uncommon!

I have had the same thing recently. Not quite nauseous enough to throw up but certainly not 100%. Plus, it has prompted cravings for old non paleo comfort foods.I work in a school and there has been a couple of bugs going around AND it is fall when I am usually overwhelmed with allergies. I think for me it is either a stomach bug or too much drainage in my stomach. (which I think is why I want to eat a little bread.) I got some Lara bars - they seem to be okay on my stomach. The broth is a great idea too... I am going to get some today. Hope you feel better soon!
