Eggy Burps caused by probiotics?

I took some probiotics a few days ago without food. Since then, I've had eggy/sulphur burps which is associated with a delicate tummy. But, no flatulence.

On reading the probiotics label, it states that it contains sulphites.

Background about me: lowish carb paleo with a small amount of goat dairy. Lactating, diabetic.

Do I need to be worried about this? It seems to be a problem in the evening only.

Perhaps read my OP again? I didn't have a reaction to eggs, I had eggy burps from a probiotic. No eggs were involved, just sulphuric burps :-)

H Pylori, from what I've gathered isn't such a bad thing. It hasn't returned, it was something to do with me taking the probiotics on an empty stomach.

Thanks, I will definitely be trying to get my probiotics more from lacto fermented foods in future, but with two smalls (2 & 3), it's all about the time it takes do make everything from scratch (and the rest... lol!) when they're so demanding! (Spend less time on the internet perhaps? lol!)

Thanks. I will be doing that in future, lol! It seems to have passed now thankfully. It lasted for about 3-4 days.

how long has this been happening? Are you drinking lots of liquids?

I know when I take them before eating, and get distracted and and don't eat, they do repeat on me and I'm miserable. But should be fine after you eat and it digests, by next day or two max.

I'd try combating it with taking in the middle of your meal, mixing it well with your food in your body should help. Or try cutting back a few days until it passes?

2 tbsp of pepto bismol every 30 min. helped me after taking probiotics that caused rotten egg burps. I only had to take it twice and it was gone.

I'm not sure why you would suddenly have a reaction with eggs when adding probiotics, but as a side note, some autoimmuners have this kind of trouble with the protein in egg whites (increases intestinal permeability). Try eating just the yolks and see if you have the same reaction. I definitely get burpy when eating egg whites...makes my stomach feel a bit raw.

That was me with the SAME exact symptoms! Over a period of 2 months I would go from having no symptoms at times to having those eggy-burps constantly until I decided I had enough. Dr stated it may be gallbladder issues or H.Pylori bacteria. Testing was done for both & gallbladder was fine but I tested positive for the H.Pylori bacteria.

The only time I have experienced something like this (distinctively sulfurous burps reminiscent of eggs) was when I got food poisoning from eating at a Golden Corral restaurant (don't ask).

I would ensure that the probiotic supplement was not expired and would suggest trying a different brand/manufacturer.

You know, the only time I had this happen, my Dr. said it was a gallbladder attack. Take that for what it's worth because I also told her that it occurred after eating high fat meals. I was eating a very low fat diet at the time, and every time I ate out (which by definition was pretty much guaranteed to be higher in fat than what I ate at home) I ended up burping rotten eggs. When I first changed my diet to high fat, it got worse -- until it went away completely.

That's been more than 10 years ago, so all the details are fuzzy.
