Hack my sex drive

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created April 18, 2011 at 10:16 PM

Can anyone hack my libido?

Im a 33 year old man and I'm in excellent athletic shape physical shape.

I've noticed I have less desire for sex then I used to. Maybe once or twice a week I'll want to have sex with my girlfriend. I have no problem performing or anything... i just want sex less.

I eat paleo 5 or 6 days a week, and 1 or 2 days a week allow some cheats because I want them or for social reasons.

I take fish oil and vitamin D. I've experimented with some other supplements and haven't noticed any change in my sex drive. I've tried calcium, magnesium, and zinc supplements at different times... nothing. Ive tried aphrodisiac foods like oysters... nothing.

Anything else I can try? I've seen (non-paleo, of course) testoterone boosters in stores like GNC. Worth a try?

Is the sex drive of my 20's a thing of the past?

Does the girlfriend want more sex? If not, then you don't technically "need" a higher sex drive. Guys - for a lot of women, after the initial 6-12 months horny stage of a relationship, we only want sex 1-2 times a week (or less). And you know what's not that fun? Frequently and consistently having sex out of duty because your boyfriend wants to. (and that, my friends, is one of several reasons I don't do long-term monogamous relationships....)

I was just reflecting on this before I read your comment and I agree. With a new girl I can't get her out of my head and want to sleep with her multiple times a day every day. At about the one year mark my libido drops off of a cliff. I also have ADD and I've read this is an issue for people with this disorder.

That sounds nice to only want it twice a week. I wish I could get my own libido down to your level. I bet it's nice and relaxing.

Do you take fish oil in gelcaps? Check all the ingredients on your supplements. There are additives that can fuck with libido. MSG is one of them and it's in tons of vitamins like magnesium citrate, gelatin(the fish oil is in). Gelatin is actually a very HIGH concentration of free glutamic acid, that's why I am asking. And before anyone tells me animal gelatin is natural, yes it is but this is a factory-processed version which contains way more glutamic acid in dangerous amounts.

I usually take my sex drive level to be an pretty good indicator of my general health level. I'd be a touch worried if mine dropped, too.

because more sex equals more orgasms and more orgasms actaully lengthens life due to oxytocin release. Oxytocin release is hugely beneficial in men and women. Women get oxytocin release with nipple message and in breast feeding as well beside orgasm. Low sex drive should be tested.........go see a doc.

Maybe not such a great idea, but there is evidence that sex with new women boosts testosterone, but most girlfriends are not OK w/ that

could be several reasons......the easy low hanging fruit is estrogen and testosterone but Ill make a bet here its higher prolactin levels based upon your history given. Your thyroid could also be a dark horse......but you need a doc who understands how it all works. ITs not just your testosterone. It could be as simple as a low DHEA level too.

Well, I'll be honest here.

Unless you've been with your girlfriend less than 6 months or so, your libido seems fairly normal to me. I'm 36 and in quite good shape too.

(reminds me of a joke about a 70 year old guy visiting a doctor.

- Doctor, I can only have sex once per night with my wife
- But that's outstanding for your age !!!
- But my friend is 75 and he tells me he has sex twice per night
- That's ok - you can tell him anything you want too

)

Jack up your Testosterone, recover your libido.

in addition, limit phytoestrogen rich foods.

Im 32, went from sex drive of near zero to that of a teenager.

Could be you are just getting older and there are now other things that stimulate you now. When we are young we are so focused on sex and relationships as we age other things begin to become more important.

So if you need sex more than a couple times a week then I suggest you rent some x-rated movies and stimulate your brain.

Have fun!

COLD SHOWERS! if you like to go crazy you can ice your balls WARNING don't hold it there for to long. Or you can take the shower head hold it down there on your balls. your sperm count will go UP. I started doing this and girl who where fives turned to six and girl who where six turned to sevens so on.Not that I rate girls I mean that is so chauvinist:D

There is some data on the 'net (so it must be true, right?) that as you increase the protein/carbohydrate ratio testosterone will drop. For instance, see ...

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6T99-47797TX-164&_user=10&_coverDate=05%2F04%2F1987&_rdoc=1&_fmt=high&_orig=gateway&_origin=gateway&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=fd22656a9b30263a582288fff5317b6d&searchtype=a

I believe a PH style diet with at least 100 gm/day of safe starches is better for those of us with issues in this area.

I'm only 23 years old and I very oddly only want sex a few times per week, too. I usually just feel to lazy to do it.

i love my gf and she is attractive ... but i just dont feel all that horny very often.

I recently started going back to the gym lifting heavy weights hoping this will get my libido back. when I used to lift a year + ago it always got me going.

Is it possible to try a different butcher? We all try to get hormone free beef, but try. Also, has girl friend switched to the patch? When my daughter used patch, it affected everyone in the house, even though the doctor said that it was not possible. (even children)

Not sure if this is relevant to your case but there's some anecdotal evidence that insufficient carb intake can wreck your libido.

I'm very, very late to answering this, but do you use porn? A lot of guys have found it reduces their libidos and eventually messes with their erectile function.

Ever solve your libido issue?

Certain foods and natural supplements such as these may add much needed nutrients and minerals to your diet, but they are unlikely to make a bigger impact on your sex drive and sexual performance.

Has someone told you it could have something to do with your paleo diet? You actually need some cholesterol in your diet to make testosterone and red meat is a good source. Try including it at least twice a week. Or you could eat eggs. You might also want to consider a libido supplement that’s made from natural sources but has clinically proven benefits to boost libido and a healthy sex drive. You have to understand too that you may not experience the same fiery, passionate kind of intimacy you did in your 20s but it’s still all good!

Yohimbe bark. Not some brand name proprietary blend. Get a big bag of powdered Yohimbe bark and start with 1/2 tsp a day in a protein drink, smoothie, or capsules. It makes a difference.

Other things that I know have an impact on male sexual performance... soy lecithin, stinging nettle root extract, saw palmetto extract.

These four supplements will change your life. I'm 36 and I wake up with a raging boner every single day. The energy is with me all day long.

An office job or working on a chair for 8 hrs kills everything. Have an early breakfast (6.30 am) have lunch before sun turns (11.30am) have a good solid nap after both meals. I wa offered 1 million bhat a night by Thai girls in their twenties and they don't charge me anything. I am 53. Breaking rest and lack of good exercise kills libido.

You know, I am about 5 weeks into the Paleo diet (Up til then, I had been eating a WAPF style diet for 15 years) and I'm noticing a drop in libido, too, since I've been eating Paleo. I am 51 but mind you the last time (before going on Paleo...about six months ago) I had my hormones tested, I got the following:

Total Testosterone: 822 (241-827 range) Free Testosterone: 15.8 (6.8-21.5) Estradiol: 24 (<54)

I think the above are pretty damn good for my age, and although I haven't had a test done since being on Paleo, I definitely feel a BIG drop in libido. Things are heading South folks, and they aint going to Mexico. There have been no big changes other than the diet. I am not particularly stressed out. I am going to add more starchy carbs to my diet...potatos, sweet potatoes, etc. Maybe some rice. Not wheat. Low Zinc doesn't make sense. I eat lots of eggs. What do you think?

My testosterone went from the 200 ng/dl(considered low end of normal) to 800 ng/dl after awhile (been at it a few years so don't know how quickly it jumped) of eating lots of home rendered lard and beef tallow as well as eating more coconut oil, as my libido went from missing to prominent. Sex and stress hormones are made from cholesterol.

..and don't neglect the impact that stress and sleep, or lack thereof, will have. Find a good Dr. who understands more than Viagranisms...At 50, Paleo has brought a welcome change to all areas of my lifestyle. I also cut down my training schedule a little, seems there can be too much of what you think is a good thing, especially when you're not 17....
