How do I convince a friend to eat full fat dairy

My friend says I'm trying to make her fat if I tell her to buy the full fat cheese, & eat more chicken & fish. "If your body thinks its starving" I begin, and she cuts me off. She also says I'm the only one who doesn't comment on her weight - I don't harp on about it. But I really feel for her constant struggle. She's obese and always dieting then giving in to carb cravings. She exercises but she's so tired & often fluey. She's got some kind of learning disability, you wouldn't know to talk to her, she's got street smarts, but she's not gonna read gcbc. She has just politely agreed to read one of my whacky full fat books one day. Which is the easiest? So she can stop worshipping her dietician & the terrible advice she desperately struggles to follow? She reads teen fiction, she's at that school level as an adult.

Good idea! I just thought of YouTube too. I will put another question up to collect everyones favourite paleo Vids and podcasts, as a more general question. I haven't seen any yet because I cbf with my net connection. Not sure if she just learns differently like dyslexia, I never ask, and Vids might be easy.

Maybe try to convince her mom or whoever she listens to the most. I have a cousin who's learning disabled and unable to comprehend difficult concepts, not that Paleo is that difficult.... Anyway, the only way to get her to change is to convince her mother because she consults her mom on everything. Just a thought.

Thanks HG. It seems so obvious once you're not doing CW ways, it is hard, it seems like the more diet conscious you are the less you can believe animal fat is good!

As an aside, afaik in Australia where we are, our dairy is ok, the cows are happy grass fed free rangers.

Thanks renee. I think that's too complex though! I'm thinking pictures, no arguing specifics, no studies with numbers and technical terms. Maybe fallons nourishing traditions mentioned in that link. Maybe I should make a picture blog for teens!

Re. Gcbc, she has agreed to read something but I'm saying she cannot read taubes due to learning probs. Is there one for teens? I don't know how to explain, I just seem arrogant to say I know better. I am supportive, we talk about pressure and women's mags etc., I'm also not a good- looker.

Oh yes, I read it too, teen fiction is awesome. The hunger games case in point. I just meant that's all she reads. I thought if she can make small changes to what is her "normal" and see that she loses rather than gains, then eventually the whole paleo thing will click, you know? Whether dairy is paleo or primal or whatevs.

Also, on the threat of another "downvote," lol, dairy is not paleo.

I don't even try to talk anyone out of their misconceptions. Sometimes they have to hit rock bottom before reaching out for different perspectives. I only offer my advice when people ask for it.

Okay, well, as a former middle-school librarian, I can tell you that most teen fiction is dystopian in nature and more original than current adult fiction :) As to your question about dairy, why should she eat dairy at all? If she is going to eat dairy, then she might as well eat full-fat dairy, right? Gary Taubes makes a lot of great points, but if she doesn't want to read it, then please be her friend and support her in any way possible :)

Start her here. I think this is a pretty simple intro to the basic principles. Just be ready to answer any questions she might have. http://www.gnolls.org/1141/eat-like-a-predator-not-like-prey-paleo-in-six-easy-steps-a-motivational-guide

EttaB I have a hard time convincing my mom to eat fat too. She eats good otherwise but she says sorry, its bad for my heart, its a well proven fact, im watching my cholesterol. I hope your friend listens to your advice. If I was her I would, her CW ways are obviously failing her!
