Why was I leaner on a SAD than the paleo diet. Mod protein mod carbs low fat compared to mod protein high'ish fats low carb? Training has not changed... Please hack my thoughts

got to agree with quilt on this one. i'm a long time runner and always been on the slimmer side, but when i switched to paleo, i had to listen to my body more. i tend to do fewer carbs but also fewer run days/long runs than pre-paleo. i lift and do yoga most days and when i do feel like running i eat more carbs. or maybe its the other way around - when i eat more carbs i do more running. my body composition has improved. try running less or upping carbs.

Cortisol is why animal. Cardio and low carb paleo raise cortisol at the wrong times and if its sustained it will raise cortisol demolish hormones and shuts off protein synthesis and ruins body comp.

it is a common theme in the is paleo endeavour. I am a student so i spend most of my day sitting in lectures and studying. training is the afternoons 5-6pm. also, why when i also trained in the AM fasted i was leaner too?had a neolithic nutrition plan done for me for cricket as i was metabolically tested both my BMR and my v02 max.she advised i train in the afternoon. i have put on some luv in lower abs region and my legs have gotten bigger BUT i can squat an extra 80lbs taking me up to 500lbs squats. i would like to be leaner again and wondering if i need to go back to my old trainig times?

I would say that I am moderate all three. I don't really "add fat." I just make sure to eat meat with some fat in it, avocado, olive oil, some butter and coconut, etc with the occasional full fat dairy.

yes- I would, depending on fat content. I pretty much eat just meat and veggies, plus cook with a little fat or add some in dressing (olive oil and vinegar). If the meat is lean add a little more fat to your meal.

Is it possible you were too lean before, and you're now closer to your body's ideal weight? Or are you feeling flabby? Have you actually gained weight/body fat on the scale?

Will try that instead then. Standard meat veggies and starch meals. Would I be better off just using the fat from the meat and not adding extra?

You may be eating more calories, or low carb does not suit you - especially if you are doing a lot of training.

Try paleo with more carbs and less fat and see how you feel / train etc

You're not alone with this one. In fact I think you might be the third thread this week alone.

High-fat means more calories than you were eating before, so look there first. Try counting calories on your current diet and see if you can pare down your intake and lose the extra fat that way.

Outside of that, low carb paleo plus cardio seems to induce fat gain in some people (especially thin ones!) You can easily do mod protein, mod carbs, low fat 'paleo' style. Or you could just try increasing carbs without going truly low fat, but watching your calories.

There is no real reason for a thin person or an athlete/runner to eat low in carbs, IMO. I'm thin and active and low carb made me feel crappy, there are tons of other thin people on PH who it also does not agree with.

"but i was eating safe paleo foods" Im seeing that thought process a lot around here.... it seems people on paleo tend to think calories don't mater anymore. They do.
