Primal. Am I doing it right?

Hi,

Firstly, I'm dong the Primal/paleo thing WITH dairy. I seem to tolerate it ok.

Can any of you let me know if I'm doing this right for weight loss?

Typical day:

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs and 2 slices of Bacon. Americano with a drop of double cream.

Snacks - 2 or 3 coffee's as above while at work.

Lunch - quarter or half small roast chicken with salad OR low carb bolognese with Kale, mushrooms, peppers etc. (I cook my bolognese with non-lean mince, cook it in butter and olive oil and add bacon )

Dinner - Pork/Chicken with skin/pan fried fish with greens and occasional 100g roasted carrots.

I also (don't judge me) Have a couple of glasses of prosecco (7g carb per 70cl) most nights.

I am female, 5'5 and 161bs. I've lost around 2.5 pounds in the last week eating this way but I guess it could be hormonal. Hoping it isn't though! I also started Jillian Michaels 30 day shred a couple of days ago and will be doing it every day. Other than that, I have a desk job so am pretty sedentary.

Any advice on where to tweak appreciated! Karen

Thanks to everyone who commented! It's re-assuring to know I'm on the right track. I bought some ketostix yesterday and I am showing moderate ketones so that's also re-assuring. I'll definitely try switching to red meat more often for fat content and will endeavour to get a bit more exercise once I can do 30 day shred without wanting to die! Very supportive crowd! Cheers! :-)

Seems pretty solid IMHO. Give it time because weight loss doesn't happen overnight, and given this is a healthy eating style, not exactly a weight-loss focused diet (although it can help a lot with this) it can take its time. Don't just look to the scale but overall body composition, energy levels and mood.

Of course that's a lot of tweaking that can be done, that all can be researched so leave it as homework but I'd say that if you have a desk job, try to incorporate some movement by getting up and walking as frequently as possible. If you could work standing instead of sitting for a few minutes every now and then it could be helpful. There is a lot of research ongoing that suspects that sedentary lifestyle cannot be countered even by daily exercise and proper nutrition (although It will be better to do this instead of lying 24/7 of course).

Seems fine. I would worry less about tweaking, since you're eating pretty good stuff, and make sure you can incorporate some variety so you don't get bored. Otherwise it looks pretty good.

If the dinner of pork or chicken is daily, I would consider making each of those a once a week food, and replacing the rest of the days with ruminant meat - grass fed beef, lamb, goat, elk, deer, etc. But that's me optimizing - overall, pretty good! :-)

I would definitely recommend you swap out some of the chicken, for grass-fed red meat. Chicken is alright, as long as it is from free-range chickens, otherwise it can be high in Omega 6 and lacks fat.
