I need some advice. I have been strict SCD/Paleo for 9 months now and have had a wonderful time cooking with coconut, veggies, and healthy fats. I started SCD because I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and was severely bloated with stomach grumblings after eating anything. I had also developed stomach inflammation with burning symptoms.
I have narrowed down a severe wheat and egg whites intolerance. I also get constipated if I eat refined sugar/dairy.
However, my digestion is still just awful. I cannot seem to digest any red meats, nuts or nut product, or too many veggies or fruits at a time. I cannot sleep on my back or my stomach will roar all night.
Last week, I went to Mexico on my honeymoon and ate the local food. Everything was made with corn and rice (no gluten, hurray!), plus white meats and light veggies and fruits. I felt WONDERFUL. My stomach did not grumble, I was not bloated, and I actually think I lost a little weight!
I am tempted to start adding back small portions or white rice and corn products to my meals. What do you all think? Has anyone else had this problem with paleo?
I have tried digestive enzymes, betaine HCL, and SCD yogurt. The yogurt has done wonders for me over where I was last summer, but my digestion is still just awful on strict Paleo.
Thanks for any advice!!

i felt SO MUCH BETTER when i ditched SCD and added in resistant starches. i have ulcerative colitis and was trying it for that. it helped at first with some symptoms but i never had anything but diarrhea. i decided to add cold potatoes, green bananas, potato starch, cold yams- things like that. rice would also work if that makes you feel good, too.

@lanternwaste I had the runs when I went strict paleo in January, it took I'd say a good month to normalise. You can try breaking foods down a bit before you eat them, chop veg more finely, steam it for longer, chew more, soak nuts, these kinds of things. Pre-digestion I believe it's called. Other than that, if you feel great and are losing weight on moderate carbs, who is anyone else to tell you not to?! Personally I'd say keep an eye on it though because whenever I reintroduce carbs like bread in particular, I find it harder to control my behaviour and not reach for more of them, most likely because it gives whatever fungi are in there some encouragement and they start secreting chemicals to make me crave more...the pesky little devils!
