Recipes for a Paleo Party

Answered on September 12, 2014
Created May 16, 2012 at 1:25 PM

It's my birthday on Saturday. I'm hoping to have a celebration complete with an interesting main dish, some side dishes and, most important, a fun dessert. Alcoholic drink recipes are appreciated as well!

As this is my birthday I expect calories and carbohydrates might be higher than normal but I want to stay strictly Paleo.

Please post any special occasion recipes that you enjoy. Keep the recipes simple, if you could, as I'm making all of this myself. Thank you.

I threw a party last month and made some snacks for guests: Sweet Potato-Frittata, Stuffed Mushrooms and Zucchinis, Pizza egg muffins, Raspberry Muffins and Lemon Muffins with blueberry frosting, the guests were happy ;)

Prosciutto wrapped asparagus!

Wrap asparagus spear with 1 slice prosciutto. Bake @400 for 15 mins, until asparagus is tender and prosciutto is a bit crispy.

Serve hot or cold.

Happy birthday!

Meatballs are always a great party food- http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2009/03/05/mmmmm-moroccan-meatballs/ I'd put out some berries for dessert, and whipped cream if your version of paleo allows (or chilled coconut cream can be a decent sub).

I make these 'brownie bites' for a paleo dessert, you can add or sub coconut butter for the nut butter, if you prefer: www.livefabuLESS.com/brownie-bites They take no time to make and they're easy to scale up or down, depending on how many people you expect-- enjoy!

I had a party the other night and for alcholic refreshments, I bought a bottle of good blanco tequila, some fizzy mineral water, and a bunch of fresh fruit (lemons, limes, strawberries, oranges) and some bottled berry juice. Pretty much let the guests make whatever they wanted with that (and some orange and ginger liquers and bitters from my bar stash). You could also do this with a good rum, and have cucumber, fresh herbs, watermelon, many options.

ETA - I didn't mean to imply that those were the only refreshements I served. That was the cocktail portion of the evening. I don't recommend serving only fruit and tequila - unless you are throwing a very specific type of party.
