Please explain bans, temp bans, and deleted posts?

I think a private message system that explained any changes to your posts would be quite helpful. I'm not trying to give attitude, but it is tricky to know what is and isn't acceptable, with 0 feedback. FAQs only give so much info

I thought I was banned too yesterday, but it's not the case. It's a javascript bug that appeared most probably after a software update on the site. Chrome does not work, but Firefox does.

@Konrad -- reading the FAQ will give you a pretty good idea of what sort of questions will get deleted. http://paleohacks.com/faq#axzz1PqBbzXKX

I think some overview of the deleted questions would be appropriate to the community, at least. "Don't take it personally if your question is deleted" is silly. You take the time to write something and then it's gone like it's a piece of butterfly crap.

I agree. I asked about a workout program last week, for first hand experiences and it was deleted. I have no idea why.

Good question.

Broadly, I moderate & manage PaleoHacks by the Broken Windows Theory. Which means that I will not tolerate seemingly minor anti-social behavior as it might encourage seriously bad behavior.

With regard to why questions get deleted and explanations, the moderators and I simply don't have time to email each user and explain why it was deleted. I know that is sub-optimal/irritating to you, the user, and that is why in the FAQ I mention:

** Don't take it personally if your question is deleted.**

It has nothing to do with you -- just the quality and context of your question. Complaining about it will not help your cause.

I also addressed self-promotion with this question on self-promotion on PaleoHacks.

I was just wondering about this myself...

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell if access has been temporarily restricted or limited at some level or other.

Kinda strange question i know, but my browser is currently acting strange on the paleohacks web site, which got me thinking.

& how long any restriction may last...

Thanks

Patrik, you write

"I simply don't have time to email each user and explain why it was deleted. I know that is sub-optimal/irritating to you, the user, and that is why in the FAQ I mention:

Don't take it personally if your question is deleted. It has nothing to do with you -- just the quality and context of your question. Complaining about it will not help your cause."

However, the FAQ merely contains the following circular reasoning:

"If we want to reach out to you to tell you why we suspended you and your email is fake...goodbye. You are now banned."

Or maybe it's the vague references to sophomoric humor. Maybe I wasn't nice enough? I'm honest, non-trolling, non-self-promoting, but maybe I made an ad hominem comment? How would I know? Am I being overly dramatic? Am I getting hySt3riCLL now?

Do I really want to contribute more to a website that simply does not have time for me?

No.

Bye.
