It's that season for pumpkin carving, which means pumpkin seeds. Are these paleo?
Okay, so this post is actually 2 entirely separate questions, but I thought I'd just bundle them together. 1) My first question has to do with my capacity to binge. And trust me, it's impressive. I find myself living with roommates who make... (more)
I don't want baked goods, I'm looking for FOOD recipes, not dessert recipes (and to me, muffins, pancakes, bread is not food). No soups, I'm sick of pumpkin soups. I don't want to drink my pumpkin either :P I'm looking for simple recipes like... (more)
Off the top of my head.. no soup or sweets? Umm: Roast cubes of the pumpkin until tender, then melt butter and saute in it thinly sliced shallot, sage leaves, some salt and pepper. When the butter starts to brown yank it out and toss with the... (more)
I've read many times on here that pumpkin isn't low-carb. With 5g of carbs for every 100g of pumpkin, I find that hard to believe. So, am I thinking wrong? Nutrition data for pumpkin : data. (more)
I was dissapointed this year in the farmer's market pumpkins because after steaming, the skin was rock hard. I like the skin more than the mushy stuff inside. Last night we made a pumpkin from Fairway and the skin was edible. The pumpkins... (more)

You made a natural product so it's not going to be shelf stable. So pretty much the storage path would be: a day or so on the counter, maybe a week in the fridge and then months in the freezer. My suggestion? If you're not going to eat it all... (more)

I cannot believe one can eat too much pumpkin. There are paleo populations who eat 60% calories in sweet potatoes, nutritionally very similar to pumpkin, and they have no diseases of civilization. I think you are doing very well.
Pumpkin seeds have a great amount of protein, but I have not found any other non-animal products that are as high. Any ideas? BTW I eat lots of animal products, just looking to keep it diverse.
Dry roasted hazelnuts are 15% protein, dried black walnuts are 24% protein. That's about as high protein as vegetables get unless you use protein isolates or eat legumes.
I'm in thee mood for some pumpkin pie. I have 1 can of organic pumpkin, some European butter, stevia, cinnamon, salt and some eggs. I don't have access to an oven (well I just don't have any oven containers/holders) but I was wondering if anyone... (more)
