I bet I'm not the first paleo peep to go hog wild on protein when starting paleo. I developed terrible tension headaches, stiff neck, muscle cramping, lately bad joint pain / muscle pain, and sneezing fits.

Of course, there could be lots of things going on here, but I am curious: what are the symptoms of eating too much protein and perhaps ammonia toxicity / too much sulfur in the diet?

My main symptom was showing my age, i've just turned 30 but at my best look in my early to mid 20's, when I was high on protein I definitely showed my age, at the most extreme I looked like I was rotting from the inside & felt like it too, within days of cutting back on my protein intake I started to look like myself again.

Thankfully I came across an article by Ron Rosedale about excessive protein, It was a God send, I had no idea the damage I was doing to myself but knew something was wrong and 'randomly' came across the article.

Having been low carb for over a year & read so much about being low carb i'm surprised it took me so long to come across info about high protein not being ideal, i guess I was a bit of a Taubes fan after reading 'good cals/bad cals' and thus thought that eating lots of meat was fine as that's what he does everyday after having done all the research himself.

I think some of the standard symptoms are lethargy & feeling hot.
