Hi I am a nine-teen year old that is started doing strength training, so to build lean muscle. I all so have started doing the cave man diet, I want to know how can I get the protein I need without having to bend or break the rules on the diet?

And if you haven't seen the movie Rocky, I strongly encourage you to watch the first (and only the first) one in the series. It's great inspiration for training. And it won a few academy awards.

Most protein sources are considered paleo. Powdered protein is not. And avoid soy. Meat, eggs and fish are all good. Grass fed beef or wild game is excellent, as are pastured eggs, if you can get them. Avoid eating only chicken and pork as the n3/n6 ratios are less than ideal - and when you eat chicken, eat the skin! Have some liver/organ meats once in a while. And avoid the processed lunch meats like salami. The bodybuilders traditional approach is beef and eggs - I got no beef with that! Remember how Rocky ate his eggs? Sylvester Stallone knows a thing or two about packing on some muscle!

Eggs are a great source of cheap protein. As are cans of tuna. Go for the good stuff on both if you can.

I'm sure you were smart enough to already know the answer that these people gave you. Don't get me wrong it's pretty good advice. However, here's another small piece of advice.

When you're going Paleo don't worry about the "leanness" of the protein you're eating, especially if you're doing strength training. The only exception to that is if you're not eating grassfed beef, and even that's up for debate. Either way, eat protein man.

Eat it any kind of protein that's considered Paleo you'll be fine. Try not to overcomplicate things especially at you're age to be honest.

If you were looking for suggestions on protein supplements then they're not needed at your level. Beginners tend to run towards those bags of protein way too soon thinking they won't gain any muscle without them. We have GNC to thank for that.
