Long time reader, first time poster...
I've been strict paleo for a little over a year now: moderate to low-carb (50-100g), high fat and high protein on training days and moderate protein on rest days.
I've been doing IF for the past month (Warrior). I normally do a 22/2 protocol. What I do is I work out when I get home from work, and immediately after my workout I will have a variety of canned fish (Salmon, Tuna, Sardines, Mackerel, etc.) to get my immediate protein fill. Then I cook my main meal for when I'm done my protein snack (making it a 2 hour eating window). I'm normally finished eating for the evening around 7PM.
I have found this to work excellently for me. My body composition is improving by the day and I've been feeling great.
I recently enrolled in a night class 2 days a week, which leaves me getting home at around 9:30PM. I've read plenty of literature, blogs, etc. that hammer the fact that muscle catabolism doesn't begin until well after the 48 hour mark of fasting.
I just can't seem to reconcile this in my own mind for whatever reason. I just feel that if I'm fasting for more than 24 hours that I HAVE to be losing at least some muscle mass.
Can anyone convince me otherwise?
Also, I'm a 20yo Male, 6'0" ~162 lbs. I would say in the range of 6-8% BF but I'm not certain.
