Increasing Protein - snacks and breakfast suggestions?

Hey PaleoHacks!

Thank you so much for providing me with such awesome information.

I have been paleo for a few months now and I love it. However I still like to watch my calories and where they come from. Right now I am noticing my fat intake averages around 40-50% of my food every week (usually from too many nuts).

So thoughts on increasing my protein intake and reducing fat?

I mainly get all my carbs from salads, vegies etc as I have taken out sweet potatoes etc so I can try stripping some fat... however I feel like i need a lot more protein and less fat to see results!

should I be trying to get a balance at all meals? food plan suggestions?

You are definitely consuming a large amount of nuts. The booze and bread aren't doing you any favors either. If your activity level is a little lower because of injury, eat as many low inflammatory foods as possible. Your diet looks pretty clean except for the excessive nuts and sunday booze/bread/chips. Eat more than 1 egg and possibly some grass-fed beef.

Hey, a typical day is as follows: Bfast: Long black w/ dash of milk; 1 hard boiled egg, 1/4 avocado, small tin tuna, chopped tomato +cucumber Lunch: Meat (Kangaroo/Tuna/Turkey/Lamb) with green vegetables or salad Snack:Almonds - I graze on these through out the day (40-60 nuts) Dinner: Same as lunch Snack: More almonds... That is a pretty staple day for me, weekends I relax more with a couple of glasses of alcohol and a sunday breaky with bread or hot chips at the pub... A few months ago I cut out protein powders/products as they are just full of unnatural stuff and high starch ie potatos

I agree, more details would help people offer better advice. My initial reaction would be to just eat more meat, choosing leaner cuts. Or making egg dishes (omlette, frittata) with more egg whites in ratio to whole eggs.

Why are you worried about 50% of your calories coming from fat? As far as a food plan goes: It varies based on your individual goals and your activity level. Please provide a little more detail for a better answer.

eggs (scrambled, boiled, etc) with some chicken for breakfast, or smoked salmon. Hard boiled eggs and sardines or mackerel are all good snacks too.

You can mix it up with some high quality protein powder. I started following a fix eating plan, but this might not be for everyone, as it requires a lot of disciple, but brings great results. But build your own opinion:http://timreviews.com/paleo-recipe
