Best cold-processed CFM Whey Concentrate

Answered on August 19, 2014

What is the most paleo-friendly (no flavorings, etc) cold-processed(!) CFM(!) Whey Concentrate (not isolate!) out there?

Ideally, a widely available brand.

Thank you!

UPDATE: As rightly mentioned below, CFM Concentrate doesn't exist. I suggest to discuss the following then: 1. Best paleo-friendly cold-processed CFM Whey Isolate. 2. Best paleo-friendly cold-processed Whey Concentrate.

good edit. as for the dual action... it's just whey and casein. some bodybuilders swear by casein, but i stick with whey personally :)

I have updated the post. You want the original flavor for sure. Flavored has soy in it...

why do you say beware of their original flavor. their original has only 2 ingredients. whey and vanilla. nothing else.

I've gotten my CFM protein from them in the past and have been happy with it. However, I was concentrating on the protein part and not the health part. Don't know on the concentrate side.

I'm pretty sure the Upgraded Whey from Bulletproof Diet fits these criteria. http://www.bulletproofexec.com/upgraded-whey/

Dr. Mercola Miracle Whey. I haven't tried it yet, but I just ordered some and can let you know how it goes. It IS a bit more expensive, but just by a few dollars. I really enjoyed his stuff, and he has lots of videos and articles explaining his opinion on health and nutrition.

As far as I know, there's no such thing as a CFM Whey Concentrate. CFM = Cross Flow Microfiltration. It's used to make Whey Isolate. Concentrates are usually made through drying. Sometimes light filtration (CFM is heavy duty filtration).

What's the argument for cold-processed? I use http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Protein-Isolate-10-Pound/dp/B000MAK59O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339536299&sr=8-1 which is very economical. I like that it's unflavored.

Upgraded Whey from bulletproofexec.com or upgradedself.com All natural from grass fed cows, with powdered MCT oil, and added bovine serum albumin for added health benefits. I've been taking it for about a month now and love it. I take it with a smoothie in the morning and some dextrose post workout.

Blue Bonnet Whey. However get the original flavor. From their website:

Bluebonnet’s 100% Natural Whey Protein Isolate is sourced from grass-fed cows in New Zealand that are not treated with antibiotics or recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), also known as bovine somatotropin (BST). Additionally, whey protein has the highest biological value (BV) of any protein on the market, which refers to a protein that has all of the essential amino acids in adequate quantities to sustain growth and development. That’s why Bluebonnet’s 100% Natural Whey Protein Isolate uses high-quality, microfiltered whey protein isolate with important, naturally-occurring immunoglobulins, which help support the immune system. Whey is also a rich and natural source of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) and glutamic acid.

Check out www.truenutrition.com, which lets you order customized by the lb., including CFM processed. You can leave out all additives (e.g. sweeteners) if you wish.

Although I don't use it anymore because it triggers GERD (I've got a thing with dairy where even raw milk cheese caused reflux, and the only thing I've been able to get without a reaction is goat's kefir), you might be able to go to http://proteinfactory.com and have them mix up whatever formula you're after. You can even get it straight without any sweeteners.

Try contacting them and see if they're setup to make CFM for you, or if not the closest thing to it.
