Store bought probiotic suggestions?

I've tried various probiotics with some success but haven't landed on that one probiotic that really makes the difference in my digestion/bowels.

Does anyone have any recommendations? The brands I've tried over time are listed below along with results. I finished a bottle of each, and for some multiple bottles before trying a new brand.

Garden of Life Primal Defense - didn't notice much of a difference in digestion http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Defense-Probiotics-180-Count/dp/B000GWKA2K

Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 Billion - didn't notice much of a difference in digestion, but my skin did break out more taking it (maybe die off?) http://www.renewlife.com/ultimate-flora-critical-care-50-billion.html

Ultimate Flora Adult Formula 15 Billion - didn't notice much of a difference in digestion http://www.renewlife.com/ultimate-flora-adult-15-billion.html

Schiff Sustenex Daily Probiotic - didn't notice much of a difference in digestion http://www.cvs.com/shop/product-detail/Sustenex-Capsules?skuId=392567

Enzymatic Pearls - didn't notice much of a difference in digestion http://www.pearlsprobiotics.com/

Healthy Trinity - didn't notice much of a difference in digestion http://store.natren.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=N&Screen=PROD&Category_Code=019&Product_Code=60090

Flora 20-14 Ultra Strength - seem to be having more well formed bowel movements, and skin breaks out much less so than normal, maybe a winner? Hard to isolate bc I also started these when going Paleo, and increasing fat soluble vitamins. http://www.innateresponse.com/Flora-20-14-p/41006.htm

Any thoughts, experiences, recommendations are appreciated.

Yes Klaire labs is great. I use that product in combo with VSL3 since after a lot of VSL3 I was way better and overall good (stool analysis) but needed more of the Bifidis strains (which Klaire has).

Shawn when I priced it out it was actually a lot less than other high quality probiotics. Did you figure it out by looking at the price per unit say price per 100billion bacteria? When I did, it was the most affordable and even less than my wholesale price for Klaire Labs. Please look again at this.

From what you have said, I would bet that you do not have a healthy or optimal level of good bacteria. If you have not replenished it, then how could you? Anyway, if you want to know for sure do a comprehensive stool analysis. Would be worth the money if you have it. Genova does a great job.

Shawn that is fabulous!!! Lesson learned. And it does make sense that you could just take the active ingredients separately. Please consider do a "full restoration" of your GI flora since you have had so many antibiotics and the GI issues (supposedly an adult healthy GI has 4-5 pounds of healthy bacteria!) which according to my clinicians was 2 packets of VSL3 per day for two weeks then tapering to 1 for another several weeks. That is 450bill twice a day.You might need to start with less and work up. It can give you gas/bloating & that seems to happen most in people who need it most.Hang in

Good thought, I guess it's possible but after 5 years straight of antibiotics and being diagnosed with Celiac, I'm leaning towards them being beneficial, if not necessary for me to take. But maybe I'm wrong.

Do you order this online or can you find it in stores? That's the one they recommend with the GAPS diet, so it might be ideal for me.

I was considering Vsl3 after you suggested it but it's one of the more pricy ones so a less expensive alternative is preferred, although if Vsl3 is worth the money I'll certainly try it.

Over the last week I became super strict about avoiding gluten, meaning if I'm not 100% sure it's gluten free I don't eat it. I know that's how I should have been given I'm a diagnosed Celiac, but I was being too careless. That lone has made a difference, and I also added in Glutamine and MSM for healing (both ingredients in Permavite, which you suggested), and now I'm looking to increase probiotic intake. So far I'm feeling better and my skin is already doing better, we'll see if it continues.

Episode 136 of Robb Wolf's podcast, Brad Davidson recommended Metagenics Ultra Flora Plus - one of the more expensive options, but also appears to have one of the higher live colony counts.

Beyond that, there's still the food options: kimchi, raw sauerkraut, kombucha, and (if you tolerate dairy) yogurt and keffir.

I just recently started taking Klaire Labs' Ther-Biotic after hearing Mat Lalonde talk about it in a podcast. I also take Prescript-Assist which is actually a soil-based probiotic. Hard to say that they are good, bad, or indifferent (I don't have lots of gut issues), but as I just finished a course of antibiotics, I'm figuring I need all the help I can get!

Try Bio-Kult IMO. Quite affordable and seems to work very well for me; I too have tried many different varieties and I was pretty skeptical that this brand doesn't need to be refrigerated, but I do seem to be very regular on it.
