I finished chemo (yay!), can you recommend a great probiotic?

I've been taking this one during chemo with permission from my oncologist who recommended I take one when I was having GI side effects. It did help somewhat. Now I am interested in a very good and thorough one to start off my recovery, that is if one of the refrigerated super-mega-probiotic supplements is worth it. It will be a month or two before I grow kombucha as it by itself is usually a bit hard on my guts. I will probably have the energy to make my own sauerkraut in a few weeks. I can only eat a little bit of dairy/yogurt without experiencing rashes - so this is all why I am looking for the supplemental type. Thanks!

Primal Defense Ultra is the only probiotic that has worked for me, and the cheapest I've found it is from ProbioticSmart.com. I doubt I will try another probiotic because this one has helped me so much.

Thanks - this looks like a good restarter probiotic for me since it focuses on the lactobacillus.

Thanks! and I'm only about 6 hours away... I will be sure to drop a note if I'm headed to the cities.

I find that the combination of probiotics (the Natren brand is superb) and raw, fermented vegetables to be optimal in turning my digestive system into an invincible, regular, machine.

congratulations!!!! holy smokes, what an accomplishment. and how great to be jumping right on in to the next step.

personally, the only pill form of probiotics that i ever noticed a difference with were the Garden of Life probiotics with HSOs. they aren't refrigerated, though, so i always wondered if it was just the HSOs that were helping.

currently i grow my own water kefir and i love it. i know you said that you'll need to work up to that sort of thing for energy and potency reasons, but i do wonder if there is a friend or someone in your area with enough to share? i can only drink about 6oz/a day, and it's breeding so quickly that i'd love to find someone to share with! (any chance you're in the minneapolis area??)

anyhow, sending light to your body. happy healing.

YAY! So happy for you to be finished with chemo. Now let the healing begin! I used to use the Lactinex refrigerated granules, which my Walgreens could order and I think it was like $10 for a 12 count box. Anymore I have just been brewing my own kombucha or buying water kefir/kombucha from the store, as well as eating Bubbie's kraut and pickles :-)

I hope for nothing but total health for you!!!!
