I have an autoimmune disorder, Sjogrens. So far it has been managed by a low dose of Plaquenil (Hydroxychlorquine 200 mg) daily.
I am 5 weeks pregnant and considered "high-risk" because I have antibodies that could try to cross the placenta and attack the baby's heart a little later in the pregnancy.
I have been eating a strict AIP Paleo diet for about three months (prior to that I had been pesco-ovo vegetarian very reliant on legumes, including soy, for protein and eating gluten).
I have lowered my medication dose to 100 mg per day and have begun to integrate liver and high fat cultured dairy products into my diet.
Questions: Has anyone out there cut out medication completely while pregnant? What was your experience?
Additionally, while I lean towards desiring a completely holistic birth, I feel resricted because of the need for additional monitoring with my high-risk title; are there tests and/or invasive "western" practices that someone with experience would recommened that I try to still avoid even with the high-risk designation?
