Green potatoes.

Does the whole potato need to be thrown out? Or can I peel down to areas that look ok?

Same here. But as a result of lots of bad fresh potatoes (green, eyes, soft, etc.) I limit the number I buy to what I can cook in the next week. They keep better for me if I bake them all and reheat. I haven't had as much trouble with sweet potatoes.

Ditto, but I'm sure there are folks who think we're poisoning ourselves doing so.

I cut off the green and eat the rest... Never been sick from it

Seriously, potatoes are cheap. Throw it out buy a 5# bag for $3. Why risk it?
