Here at home my mother loves making pork and beans. I don't eat the beans but i'll devour the pork. The pork however still has the bean sauce on it, should I avoid this and wash it of or will it do no harm to me? (I handle carbs and gluten very well)

I love this answer. I have let it go too far with gluten foods in the past though, and paid the price, so I think you do need to draw the line somewhere.

A wise Sufi cleric once said when asked about his religious objection to eating pork and some other "unclean" foods, "anytime a meal is prepared with love, it should be eaten." Even the unclean foods that are forbidden by his faith were eaten in small amounts depending on the situation.

Paleo is a great way of life, much healthier than that which the "pizza eaters" have. However, a serving of beans insn't going to kill you. If you eat 28-35 meals a week...what exactly is the harm in one of them being less than ideal?

The thing with celiac and gluten is celiacs have a dangerous intolerance to gluten so they can't safely eat even a molecule of it. However, with beans, even though they may not be an ideal food, a few molecules of them will probably not matter much. If it were me, I'd just scrape off what I could easily manage and then just eat the pork. And then I'd say thank you Mom, it was delicious!

Option a) is to hide your "hate" towards beans for the rest of his life when eating at Mum's

option b) is to talk to her about this and maybe not having to lie/hide about your food choices.

Both can work, the choice is, however, yours.

I would probably just eat it. You might be better off by washing the bean sauce off of it, but its not that big of a deal. Just don't eat the beans and you'll be fine.
