Using candlenuts as a thickening agent was brought to my attention during an Indonesian cooking class, they are ground into a paste and used to thicken SE Asian dishes. They are slightly toxic raw and need to be cooked slowly to bring out the thickening properties and destroy the toxins.
Anyone tried them?
Indeed, being poisonous raw, should the even be classed as paleo?
