I have a little problem

I LOVE being on the Paleo diet! I don't feel restricted and I find the whole thing great fun! I do not feel deprived! And then.... That time of the month approaches. Every other month when I begin to PMS ( which unfortunately for me is sometimes 2 WEEKS prior to menstration!), suddenly my favorite foods (which are raw greens) become upsetting to my system. Usually the raw veggies feel fabulous to my system. With PMS I can't bring myself to finish a salad. The diet is no longer fun because I am bloated and constipated and my body is turned off by veggies... Go figure. P.S. the bloating and constipation occur first, before and change in my diet. The cause must be hormones, not diet. So, anyway, I come off of the diet for like 3 weeks every other month. I'm not happy with this! I consider if its better to not be on the Paleolithic diet at all than to come on and off of it so much! I consider if I should alter the diet, allow some things that might help me to constantly maintain the same diet continuously. Not binge inducing foods, but things like possibly yogurt or cheese? My plan is Keats to indulge in dark chocolate or potatoes if I must.. This way I'd satisfy my hormonal lay driven appetite while still staying Paleo. That is always my intention and then I fail and eat like crap for 3 weeks - which to be honest does not help the PMS!!! At the moment I am in full Paleo. It's only day 3. I really do live eating this way. I just hate coming off of the diet!
Advice? Thoughts?

Thanks, Mia

I'm no expert, but I feel you on the PMS front - I've just finished off a full bar of 85%! However, as far as the green situation goes: if your body doesn't want it, don't eat it. Either abstain for a few days, or try cooking your veggies in fat?

Also, it's period food: eat that full-fat dairy! I'd have a mental breakdown if I couldn't eat tonnes of lovely meat and yoghurt on my period. If dark chocolate causes binges, don't eat it. (I ate a full bar because I've barely had anything to eat today; which isn't good, but i can't do anything about it now) but feel free to eat more than usual! Put it this way: overeating for a few days (and not eating greens) is better than a binge spiral for 3 weeks.

maybe you require more magnesium, copper, potassium, or iron during those days

Don't force yourself to eat raw vegetables if you hate them! Listen to your body and eat meat and seafood and carbs (Try baked sweet potato fries). You shouldn't have to struggle to eat the right way- just eat the paleo foods you want to eat without making yourself miserable. And don't forget chocolate ;) !
