Tell me about your stall!

I've been reading the site about weight loss stall and I've heard lots of things, many contradictory. So I want to hear from YOU! What is your story?

Things I'd love to see covered:

How much had you lost before the stall?

How long was the stall?

How many times did you stall?

How did you feel, emotionally? Physically?

What techniques did you employ to help you get out of it?

What words of wisdom do you have?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from obese (or formerly!) people, and women over 35.

adding carbs helped with my energy levels immediately. the weight loss was about 2 lbs per week after I added carbs (it was 4 lbs per week before the stall). I am still at roughly 150g per day. it just seems to work for me.

Male 38 73 lbs lost (starting weight 386)

I started in February of this year. I lost 66 lbs by June. Most of June and July was a total stall. I tried increasing calories a bit. I tried an increase in movement/exercise. I had recently started drinking homemade kombucha so I stopped that. Nothing. I tried an increase in carbs, but that didn't work out. I had been <20 grams a day. I went up to 50 which didn't work. Now I am averaging 35 or so.

Then I fired up the Loseit.com app and started tracking calories. Still no movement. Then last week I lost 7 lbs. I am waiting to see what happens next weigh in, but I am down 1.5 since then.

I am not usually so focused on the scale. I just wanted to monitor a bit closer.

I think the big change was a reduction in dairy (I ate little before, but I reduced my cream in coffee and reduced the coffee intake) and I chilled out.

I believe there is a lot of wisdom here at PH about stalls. The thing I read most was to just be patient, focus on the basics and weight for the stall to work itself out naturally.

I am not paleo just to lose weight. I have an auto immune disease of the liver and I feel great - and almost symptom free now. So I get great results in how I feel even if the weight stalls a bit. I prefer how I feel and live this way, so I am in it for the long haul. If the weight takes longer than I might prefer, then whatever.

So to get my focus right, I kept reminding myself of the benefits in my life other than weight loss. Now a little more weight has come off and the rest will come off.

Female 45yo 5'3, 2010 sw 160, 2012 sw 148, cw 141

WL 7lbs Kettlebells 3x weekly, 30-40 min walk 2-3x weekly

Stall 5weeks and still in it. But there are body changes, my clothes fit different

I started following vlc paleo for overall health specifically migraines. I have also gone grain, dairy and sugar free. Only had one very different than the previous migraines in the last 5 weeks! My energy levels have not been great so I am uping my carbs but will keep them below 150g per day. I am hoping that will break this stall.

I try to remember that I did not get this way over night and the repair to the damage will not happen over night. Mark the mile stones. Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you are strong, flexible, healthly, and doing great because you are! Love yourself !

Male, 31, 40 lbs total weight loss (BMI said I was obese before).

12 lbs

3 weeks

2 times (although the second time was just for a week)

Completely tired

Added more carbs (from less than 50g to 150g)

Keep pushing through it. One friend said to think of stalls as your body resetting it's "set weight". I am sure that is BS, but choosing to believe it certainly helped me through!
