perfect health diet- how to count the calories

Hi all .. so far so good (transition from Lowish carbs - PHD safe carb )after implementing many if not all the PHD guidelines and suggestions am pleased to report that i did "not" gain any weight after introducing safe starches :) so yipppeeeee about that. Feeling less hungry and more calm and balanced too. Bonus and bonus! My question is .. i am still a little confused about whether or not i am supposed to be counting the protein calories from the daily eggs/yolks. thank you for your answers ...i asked paul on the phd website and he did in fact answer that YES youre supposed to count the protein calories from eggs.

I'd suggest you maybe ask Paul himself over of Facebook. Both Paul and Perfect Health Diet have Facebook pages where he responds promptly.

I think you should count them. As discussed in the other thread keep in mind that you are only counting the protein grams,not the fat grams in the yolks.

Personally, I find it easier to take an Atkins carb-counting style approach to tracking. I try to be very careful in counting the starch/fruit carbs and just eat protein/fat to satiety. This usually puts me within the PHD range.

So, with 4 calories in a gram of protein:

If an egg is about 6g of protein, it's 24 calories of protein. 72 calories of protein for 3 eggs.

If an egg yolk is about 3g of protein, it's 12 calories of protein. 32 calories of protein for 3 egg yolks.
