I'm under the impression that palm kernel oil is better somehow than palm oil but I don't know much about either. Can someone enlighten me about the differences?

Brief Answer...

they 'do' different things (good for different things).

palm kernel oil is very similar to coconut oil. i have never actually seen it sold anywhere (in a fairly clean/unprocessed state), the only palm kernel oil i have seen is usually highly processed stuff sold in bulk.

palm oil, aka palm fruit oil or red palm oil is made from the 'meat' (mesocarp) of the palm fruit and is a very good/high source of tocopherols and tocotrienols (Vitamin E). is usually red/orange in colour & has a strong smell/taste (imo).

Detailed Answer...i answered a couple of similar questions a while back & included some pretty charts...
