I've never been so involved in a forum before PaleoHacks. I'm not going to abandon it but I'm wondering if there are similar scientific health type forums out there with appreciable activity levels?

Very insightful. .. and that's one thing that keeps me coming back. Some more active members here who are willing to admit they may not be on the right track and tend to back up claims for that . Maybe I just need to check out some forums in general to foster a broad range of interests.

I have been wondering exactly the same thing, which prompted me to ask a similar question recently... which paleo/health related sites/forums have you recently started visiting more often

This site has been very quiet of late

every coin has two sides, while the paleo philosophy does seem to be in line with common sense, mainstream health has its opinions for a reason. have to keep in mind they are painting with a pretty big brush and their priority is helping the diseased so they tend to err on the side of caution with things like cholesterol/salt/fats/sugars.

also have to keep in mind whats common sense isnt necessarily correct and there are probably far more studies supporting their views than ours.

sadly pretty much all the forums are run by blogs so have limited followings.

The trouble with any mainstream health site I've looked at is that they are just that - people making empty mainstream claims without backing them up, usually spouting like a dolphin about the dangers of cholesterol, why all milk, cheese, and dairy should be UHT, and not addressing the real problems with modern diet and even modern society like they do here. I'm not saying UHT dairy is the devil or raw is better, I just like how when I come here I get both sides in abundance on most issues and the philosophy goes beyond food. It's refreshing and maybe this is the only such place?

on the paleo front, maybe marksdailyapple, cavemanforums, forums.bulletproof. not really any huge forums dedicated to paleo as its an 'emerging trend'. you could argue that paleo isnt 'scientific' and that maybe you should look at mainstream health forums.(not sure about these)
