This stuff is in everything and it's disgusting, they even sell bags of it with all the almond flour at my local whole foods. Without mentioning food coloring, I'm just wondering why this crap is used in everything. I've seen it in nearly every food and even tooth paste.

Well, mostly it's used as a thickening agent.

Every time I eat something with xantham gum I get bloated and windy. This is definitely not good stuff, and indeed it should not be used. If someone needs to use a thickening agent, tapioca is more natural. At least it's not created in a lab.
