Women, Carbs, and Weightloss

Hi!

I've been noticing an interesting trend going around about how women tend to lose more weight on a moderate carb diet as opposed to a low carb diet. 

My dad and I (I am 21...) did low carb over the summer and he lost about 10 pounds, but I didn't lose an ounce or any inches. Apparently I "looked better" though, whatever that means. After reading all the books that came out recently about gluten/wehat/carbs I switched from vegetarian to LCHF Paleo, but I've gotten nowhere. I desperately want to lose the 20lbs that I gained freshman year of college. 

I am 159lbs, and 5'8"... My most comfortable weight was probably when I was 133, but 140 would be great to get back to as well. It was the last time I felt confident/comfortable in my body. I also have a bit of a bingeing problem, but when I eat enough that stays more under control. I do moderate exercise- an inconsistent schedule of running and weightlifting. My stress levels due to being a senior in college are obviously pretty high (although I was pretty calm this summer!). I got my bloodwork done and everything looks fine.  I also went off birthcontrol about 8 months ago.

Are there any other women who found that LCHF did not work for them? And any who have found that moderate carb does?

How many calories were you eating? Also, macronutrient composition? You need to address these before stressing about carbs or no carbs.
