I'm eating 3 times a week avocado, and using Coconut oil and olive oil for cooking Very little bit nuts & seeds. Meat and chicken I'm not big fan.. Maybe 2-3 times a week More green leaves and eggs and Tomatos, berries apples Almonds cashew sunflower seeds, chia, flax seeds adding to my Green smoothie ( banana spinach coconut milk ice flax seeds or chia seeds & water)

+1 beyond health reasons, being able to vary your diet from 2 days chicken 2 days fish blah blah ho hum, gives a little more control and excitement about your lifestyle change, rather than making it feel like a prison sentence. Happier life = less stress.

Yes, exactly. Excess weight is often a symptom of poor health, not a cause. Paleo helps many people get *healthy* and therefore lose weight as the symptoms get better. But it's not a magic fat-burning bullet. :)

Agreed; Paleo isn't meant to lead to weight loss of more than about a pound a week. If you can keep that up, you'll reach your goal and do it without screwing up your health or burning all your muscle. It's a feature, not a bug.

5-6 lbs lost still counts as losing weight. it certainly isn't gaining...

You lost 5-6 pounds without exercise and no tracking calories? That's pretty good. Get some simple walking in if you're not already, and keep it up. You're doing good.

You didn't say what kind of fats you are eating, and as for your protein both chicken and fish are fairly low fat. You might not be eating enough of the right things. Try increasing your fats with avocados and coconut oil, and add beef to your diet (not too lean!). I wouldn't stay away from all starches - have rice or potatoes in little bits to make sure your metabolism doesn't suffer in the long run. Remember, it isn't just LOSING the weight - it is all about keeping it off! Having a more well-rounded diet will help you in the long run. Don't try to lose too fast. Great job with the weight loss so far!!! Best of luck!!!

5-6 pounds is great. I usually aim to lose .5-1 pound a week because I find that when I lose weight slowly, it stays off. Keep doing what you'e doing.

my guess is that the fruit you're eating might lead to slight weight retention. not implying fruit is bad, just that if you cut it out or reduce your consumption to nearly nil, your weight loss will accelerate.

I agree I lost 95lbs in less than a year on a self made low cal diet... I however burned through all of my muscles and anytime I would stand up quickly would get light headed. I suppose that's what eating 1500 calories or less will do to a 6ft 23 year old guy.
