Why can some people eat anything and everything whilst others cannot without getting any problems?!

I am sure we all see many people or know many people who can eat anything they want and still not experience any issues.

Issues being any illnesses body related, internal or external?

Are some people more tolerant or less sensitive?

What do you mean gut exercises? Like abdominals?

I do t think Roth is defending paleo as much as she is just demonstrating that people who eat Poor diets might not show their health problems the same as others. So they MIT eat worse foods but you wouldn't see it, but they are less healthy. Tis seems to me a valid hypothesis.

I agree with Roth, it's all about how your geneS are expressed. Epigenetics ftw.

I don't eat Paleo, but even if I did, common sense would dictate that a healthier diet = a healthier development of brain function.

Classic paleo justification... if you ate this way, you would have had a higher IQ, you would have not developed X; if you don't eat this way now, you'll fall apart later; even if you can't see any effect, a poor diet does you grave harm, etc... ad nauseum. Stick to the facts, and just the facts, ma'am.

The reason some people can't tolerate dairy or wheat is not because of genetics. You should know that, Matt. Genetics are probably less than 1% of the total equation of health.

Reality: the vast majority of folks have no food intolerances, including dairy and wheat. If you have problems with foods, you lost the genetic lottery, sorry to say.

Junk food is but only mild poison. It won't kill your genetically-blessed rivals & enemies dead right away. But you will outlive to dance upon their graves.

Why can some people run a sub 10 second 100 meter dash? Or dunk? Or earn millions of dollars to stand in front of a camera?

Do you have any proof that the people who eat "anything" and "Everything" don't develop problems? What if we were to cut open these people and inspect their organs? How do these people fare in IQ tests against others? Do they have a higher incidence of psychological disorders than the average populace? What about when they're in their 50s? Are they still healthy as a horse in old age or does their diet catch up with them? Are these people who eat "anything" the same ones who develop multiple malignant cancers later in life that don't respond to chemotherapy?

And the answer is: gut flora. If your gut flora is filled with wonderful healthy bacteria, it will handle almost anything. After all, people are omnivores. But if you start abusing the system, sooner or later it will start malfunctioning and this is how you will get into all kinds of problems.

Paleo helps your gut flora to stay healthy. Take care of your little ones and they will take good care of you.

Different people have (in no particular order) different: liver function, mitochondria levels, organ reserves, activity levels, damage levels, genetics, diseases, gut bacteria/yeasts, exposure to toxins, vitamin levels, mineral levels, lung capacity, stress capacity, stress levels, immune system, etc.

Your question is almost like asking "Why can this guy get away with eating crap while I can't?" It smacks a bit of jealousy, but the answer is, we are all n=1 experiments. What works for the guy next door, might not work for you, and vice versa.

You can only deal with your own problems and not worry about theirs. If you have a problem in common, perhaps your solution may match theirs, or perhaps not, you'll just have to experiment.
