What would happen on a fat only diet?

Say one consumed nothing but top quality fat- grass fed tallow or cold pressed extra virgin coconut oil- what would the effects be?

After a few days, what do you think that person would notice? Would they lose more weight than if they just fasted? Would it put them in keto faster and/or stronger than just fasting?

How do you think their energy would be? Say you did this for about 2 weeks, what would the health effects be?

There must be a first one so we can gather some data for the sake of science :D. Seriously, just joking. I don't think it would be a good idea, don't know if there might be any study testing something like this with rodents.

People have gone months on meat/fat only diets with great success (sometimes.) Do you think adding a little bit of protein could make it work?

Nah, you'd probably survive but you'd lose 2 weeks worth of nutrition for a disordered-eating stunt that has no real benefit long-term.

Lyle McDonald addresses this at length in his book "The Ketogenic Diet." I highly recommend it if you are contemplating this kind of a fast. It will give you details and numbers. A newer book is his "Rapid Fat Loss Diet." I have not read that one.

I have done a "fat fast" for 1-3 days at a time, and I really enjoy doing them. I feel great, my skin clears up, and I'm able to transition back into low carb easily. However, I would not do something so drastic for much longer, for fear of losing lean body mass.
