What's the best workout to pair with a paleo diet?

I've been strict paleo since mid-August, still loving the diet and still going strong. I also started Crossfit in September and am really liking the workouts/community. However, I have two problems with CF.

One: I'm not seeing the results I want. I want to be lean and strong, but the progress seems to be coming along very slowly. Part of me wonders if I should be running or doing yoga instead.

Two: I hate living in fear of getting injured. This week, a sharp back pain has got me down and out. I can't help but wonder if this is the best thing for my body right now.

I want to hear your opinions. You all eat paleo, so what kind of exercise do you do with it? What results have you seen? I want to be as fit as possible. Abs would be nice too :)

Thoughts on CF and paleo? Thoughts on other workouts?

What are your goals? Strength? Hypertrophy? Longevity? Increasing vO2 max?

Basically simple stuff, weights and some sprints/walking. My wife lifts 2x a week and does some stretching, yoga and walking and is pretty fit. It doesn't take much, CF is insane unless you need to be pushing your limits for some reason.

Ah ha the problem with crossfit has arisen yet again. Crossfit is extremely violent and tough on the body. You should look into local bootcamps. I went from no muscle tone to head to toe muscle tone, an almost 6 pack and using nothing more than body weight and 10lb dumbbells.

You can make any workout work with Paleo. I'm an endurance athlete and have seen great results on a paleo diet. I eat more carbs (generally between 150-400 grams depending on the workout) on workout days. On rest days I'll lean more towards fat. Adopting a paleo diet I've been a lot less susceptible to injury and illness as compared to when I was eating the standard high grain carbs. Fruit and sweet potatoes do the trick. Post run smoothies that include maple syrup also work wonders. I like the idea of crossfit, I don't like how many people implement it. I do crossfit-esque workouts on the occasion but I don't let that be the only workout that I do. I use it as a compliment to my running.

I live by the Primal Blueprint method of exercising because I can't stand doing chronic strength training or regimented scheduled workouts. Information on Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint can be easily accessed online, but the gist is to just make a concerted effort to move around more, lift heavy things a couple times a week and do an all out sprint session for less than 10 minutes once every 7-10 days.
