The same few pounds

I have been following a primal paleo diet for about 6 weeks. I lost weight, but for some reason these last few weeks I have been struggling with about 2-4 pounds. It seems that I keep losing and gaining these same 2-4 pounds. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Very true. We need to remember that Paleo or Primal eating habits and lifestyle is not simply a "lose weight" program. It's about establishing healthy eating habits which are not always seen on the scale but are often experienced in the gut.

Are you restricting your caloric intake?

My diet is mainly lean proteins, veggies, little to no fruits, etc. I occasionally eat paleo friendly snacks (almond butter and fruit, etc.), nothing too crazy. As far as water, I lose count due to the amount I drink (I drink water like crazy because I feel so dehydrated all of the time). I exercise a few times a week, nothing to extreme (knee injury),

Congrats! Even though you've hit a plateau, that's really exciting that you're losing weight. There are a couple of things I would check. Sleep and stress. Are you sleeping well and enough? And is your stress under control?

Also, are you eating enough? Sometimes, low calories can make someone plateau. Refeed time?

I regards to what Kurt said above, the hardest part about Paleo is coming up with new ideas all the time for recipes. I found this cook book to be a lifesaver, let me know what yas think;

Yeah I agree with that, it all comes down to trialling different things to see what works for you.

I agree with the other answers here so far. Some other things to consider, for what anecdotal evidence is worth:

Too much water can actually be counterproductive -- that dehydrated feeling could be because you're running low on minerals. I found that supplementing with concentrated mineral drops helps (I use ConcenTrace) helped me immensely. Nuts, nut butters, coconut products and fruit all stall out my weight loss efforts, every time. You might consider a trial run completely eliminating these from your diet for a while.

I have been gaining and losing the same 3-5 lbs for 2 years now. In those 2 years I've lost 2.5 inches off my waist, 3 inches off my stomach, and gone from zero ab definition to a hint of abs (still working on them!).

The point is that the number on the scale is meaningless. Stop weighing yourself and start using data points that actually matter: measurements, pictures, BF%, how your clothes fit.

I have had the same issue a few times. I found the main reason to hitting plateau was not varying my diet enough and my body built up an intolerance to the same foods being consumed all the time ie; I ate a heap of spinach and sesame seeds and chicken. I found by varying my greens and never eating the same thing in the same meal in the same week it allowed me to break the plateau. I also combined this with regular crossfit training 3x per week as well as 3 litres of water per day and the results were great!

What is your diet? How much water are you drinking? How often do you exercise?
