There was a thread recently asking whether paleo was becoming mainstream, well I thought I would share some things I experienced today.
I got my new 2 strength and conditioning cycle from my coach today and the nutrition section had in it
"eat lean animal protein with non starchy vegetables five times a day. Tubers and oatmeal are to be consumed on heavy lifting days.
So while oatmeal is not paleo, I think this is quite telling as far as how much things are changing from the old ead bowls of pasta and cereals days that I can remember in the last few years.
I went to the gym today and saw the womens class taking place and on the board there was similar advice being given.
EAT REAL FOOD.
It broke it down to palm full of protein and a palm full of vegetables and at the bottom it said ladies throw your iceberg lettuice out, which I found refreshing lol.
Even the guys in the locker room. the real 230lbs meatheads, what were they taking out of their gym bag, waxy maize and natural whey protein, even the hardcrore guys are becoming hippys :D
Not paleo but still, a very telling sign of what is changing.
PS. Can anyone who does the four main lifts help me with hip mobility and activation, I had a very respected trainer help me with my lifts today and he was showing me how to engage my hips in the dead lift, OHP, squat and bench press, I have a hard time activating them and seem to rely on my glutes.
He was showing me how to start with hips out on the bottom of the OHP, then shift them backwards as I lift above the head, they feel tight and stiff, probably from the long lay off.
