Seventh week -- no weight loss

I have been doing the Paleo diet with very few interruptions, (I read somewhere that with Paleo you should cheat occasionally and minmally), and am now in my seventh week.

Good news is I love the diet and the new eating style; bad news is, I haven't lost any weight and have seen a few changes in my body; but think I should be seeing more at this point.

Let me also say that I am post-menupausal, which I understand makes a difference. Have I not waited long enough?

Also, haven't noticed any of the health benefits that went along with the diet. Help!!

Lizzy

I agree with English Rose. Paleo for weight loss looks different than every day Paleo, especially with a post-menopausal woman. You will need to tweak it toward low carb, high fat to see any weight loss.

I suggest :- 1. Give up all fruit and dried fruit and nuts for now. 2. Give up cheese 3. Avoid all high carb - sweet potato, baked potato, bread, rice and the higher carb veg like butter nut squash, onions and carrots.

Just eat meat, eggs, veg, fish and lots and lots and lots of good fats - meat with lots of fat on, chicken skin and low carb veg with butter on it. That may stop you feeling so hungry so you may be able to reduce to 2 not 3 meal a day. Have no snacks and only drink water.

The above might help. [Not sure why there are links above to products on some of my terms above - I certainly do not recommend them...]

Can you describe your diet and lifestyle (and measurements, perhaps?) in a few more details?

Keep in mind that, in terms of weight loss, a simple scale is often a very poor indicator, as fat can be lost and muscle gained, or weight can fluctuate with hydration.

A tape measure in mm is often quite accurate and a much better measure.

Hey Lizzy, firstly well done for sticking to the diet. Dieting is different with everyone and sometimes what works for one person doesn't for another, there are plenty of programs out there that are worth a shot and many offer money back grantees if not satisfied.

I started with Paleo and went on to The Weight Loss Formula, chucked in a few exercises on top and soon saw the differences, it might be worth a look at www.moltenreviews.com which offers health advice, weight loss advice and quite a few free articles as well.

Don't let it get you down, stick by it or mix it up with a different program!

Goodluck!
