Paleo breakfast for Crossfit

Im going from weight lifting to Crossfit and want to switch to Paleo eating as a lifestyle change. When I would lift weights at 5-530am, half asleep off of a banana, I felt ok and would be able to lift well. Is there something(s) I should have once I wake up, 45min prior, to be ready to perform well? Also, since I have to go straight to work afterwards, would me having a whey protein shake (48g) with spinach, banana, berries and almond butter be ok? Id appreciate any feedback, thanks in advance, im excited to get started and see results.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try the shake without the almond butter! I've tried the fasted training my last 2 days and felt goos!

Eating before Crossfitting is usually a matter of preference/ personal performance. Some people like to, others prefer fasted training. If you like eating before working out, generally speaking you want a pre-workout meal consisting of fats and protein (so you don't spike your insulin levels). Whey protein isn't strictly paleo, but a lot of paleo-ers use it and if you find a good brand with minimal additives/ preservative junk, you should be good in that respect. The only thing about that PWO drink I would change is the almond butter, only because fats slow carb/ protein absorption, which you need right after you Crossfit to build/ maintain muscle.

I go to a bootcamp at 5:30am til 6:30am I always train fasted... For me I eat .5 lb of a baked sweet potato with .5 tablespoon of butter and while I'm replenishing my glycogen I'm cooking 3 pastured eggs in .5 tablespoon of pastured butter and frying up my daily 2 pieces of pastured bacon. I personally hardly eat fruit as they pack lots of carbs and sugar per serving. Once you become fat adapted you do not need to eat preworkout atleast I don't need to. I noticed a tremendous improvement in my performance after I introduced a sweet potato post workout

i go to 5:30 am crossfit. if i wake up feeling hungry, which i rarely do, i'll eat a banana before. i used to ALWAYS wake up hungry but stopped eating after 6:30 p.m. and am rarely hungry anymore when i first wake up! i make myself some eggs with veggies the night before and eat that usually around 7. i eat the eggs cold, which isn't the greatest, but it works for me!
