Hey guys, I'm looking for an excellent recipe for my birthday cake. I'm about 4 weeks in to Paleo eating and not about to give it up for a birthday (which is Thursday). Any great cake recipes, I would appreciate!

only 50%. Even pre-paleo, 1 lb crab meat, some mayo, eggs, spices, mustard, veggies and only 1 tbsp of panko crumbs. Now I dredge in coconut flakes and barely notice the missing bread crumbs. easily 100% paleo now.

"Traditional" crab cake is (at least) 50% not paleo - it's pretty much crab meat and bread crumbs. Although, it's definitely more amenable than sweet cake to be "paleo-ified".

you could do a lot worse than this: http://paleomg.com/simple-blueberry-lemon-birthday-cake/ -- although probably not a lot better.

I know it's not "paleo" but there are paleo ingredients and that's what I'm looking for :) Thanks for your help! I should probably just cook a big steak and put a candle on it, sounds pretty awesome to me.

A cake is never paleo, sorry bud. But don't let that tidbit of info stop you from stuffing your food hole on your special day. ;-)

If you are looking to make a faileo treat with paleo ingredients, I suggest checking out Elana's Pantry - pretty much the best site for alternate flour recipes. I've treated myself to a number of her recipes - fantastic. Here's the subsection for cakes and cupcakes.

I made a paleo meat birthday cake for my boyfriend last year! The "cake" part was two large grassfed beef paties, with a bacon filling between them, and then an avocado buttercream frosting (just avocado and grassfed butter whipped together)!

Of course it isn't sweet, but you can sure make it look like a real birthday cake!

Can't get more caveman than that. ;)

Cake: lots of melted butter and coconut oil. Optional is some added macadamia nut oil. half a dozen eggs. a half cup of coconut flour. a quarter of a cup cacao powder. some baking soda. coconut sugar. powdered sugar.

Frosting: soften a stick of kerrygold, mash powdered sugar and a little cacao into it. top with coconut flakes.

I made this for valentines day for my girlfriend and it was the best chcocolate cake we've ever eaten.

fresh picked strawberries (they are in season!) and coconut milk will not suffice, huh? what if you whip coconut cream and add almond meal crust.... it's like a make shift strawberry shortcake!
