Vegetable and fruit purees, avocados, egg yolks, meat in moderation??? What else, especially for 6-12 months?

Thanks, MathGirl72, I've read the article. Iron again, which is one of the most obsessed minerals, actually. I don't know if people, especially babies need so much iron. Do you?

Not true, Paleolithica. http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/new-health-canada-guidelines-advise-meat-as-baby-first-food/

No, I mean, why are you creating purees when they can just eat the food? Sorry I was unclear!

PaleoDel, I think that since meat is a food high in protein, it may put a lot of strain on a baby's immature kidneys. Same is not applicable to adults with normal renal function, though. And as far as I know (I may be mistaken), only vegetable and fruit purees are not enough and a baby need more rough food for its stomach to start functioning in full. But I know for sure that avocados are great food for babies and their parents :)

I'm not there yet (but it's creeping up on me!), but may I ask about the purees? Why not just vegetables and fruit? I have not been planning to make purees for my daughter. And why meat "in moderation"? Thanks!

when i was a baby, i ate what my family ate. my parents said that i hated most baby food besides pureed pear and sweet potatoes. there are pictures of me eating pork ribs with barbaque sauce when i had no teeth or hair. i don't know how i did it, but i managed and loved it. i know i ate lots of scrambled eggs and bacon, too.

Our little guy just gets what we have. That means eggs and bacon for breakfast. Left over meat from dinner for lunch, and the what ever we have for dinner. When he was 5-7 months we pureed it, but now he just has it whole. We don't do "meat in moderation", we do as much meat as he's hungry for. I swear that he eats more as a 1 yr old than many yoga instructors do :)
