Paleo and breakups

Answered on August 19, 2014

I broke up with my boyfriend. The good news- I can be 100% paleo now and don't have someone hurting me emotionally anymore. The bad news- I ate 2 whole chickens and a big bag of carrots yesterday- the kind you give horses... I've been staying away from sugar since Sunday... but still. Tell me to cool it with the eating.

(should point out I have a lower normal BMI)

A hike is a great idea! Enjoy the sun on your face, or the shade, or the sound of water, or whatever it is that helps you find serenity.

I was just giving you a hard time Amber. Sounds like the boy wasn't worth the squeeze. If that's the worse binge you have, you'll be fine. Just don't eat too many of those horse carrots, they'll turn your skin orange.

haha! He wasn't a vegan or vegetarian- but he was a dedicated SAD eater- the kind that loves junk food. Ugh.

Thanks Nance. Going to try going hiking, even though half of me feels dead.

Gigant ones- they aren't pretty, so people won't buy them- and supermarkets don't carry them.

I did not realize there were different carrots for horses.

Be good to yourself. If that means you eat 2 chickens, go for it. Try to get outside and let it sink in that the planet is still turning and you will go on.

Keep us posted. We're smart-alecks, but we do care.

I just wish I could eat two whole chickens.

Really though, of all things to binge on, I don't really consider that a binge if it was a one day thing. I'm gonna predict you won't be hungry for a while and your body will hum along just fine. More damage would be done by the cortisol you'd get from stressing/worrying about it.

Two whole chickens and a big bag of carrots, eh? Sounds like a typical day for me, except swap the carrots for two huge avocado covered kale salads! In any case, sorry about your breakup. If you're concerned about your eating, that's good. Concern means awareness. Just keep in mind that you want to continue to look and good not only for yourself, but for any potential new boyfriends that may come around. If it was a vegan or vegetarian you broke up with, good riddance! Enjoy your real food guilt free! Good luck to you.

You need to free your chicken-eating self, tomorrow buy FOUR whole chickens and have a feast, you will feel better afterwards.

Never let anyone tell you that eating several entire chickens is wrong, you have to be you. If you have to lay waste to the chicken population then do so, eat those feathered bastards until they go extinct.

Have you considered raising and slaughtering your own chickens?

Food wise, I would say your fine except for maybe your o3-o6 ratio maybe be abit off, just get a nice piece of salmon in ya and you will be fine and with regards to your relationship, just remember theres plently of fish in the sea (semi pun intended )

I found that supplementing with fish oil has helped me with binges and mindless eating. Someone else mentioned eating fish, and there is truth in that. Omega 3 helps the brain to know when it's full because sometimes when we eat, it is our brain and not our stomach that is hungry. I used to have a huge problem with nut binges following a traumatic experience. Binge eating plagued me for about a year until i discovered fish oil. I no longer have the desire or craving to eat mindlessly. hope this helps!
