im new to the paleo diet, can people post me links to good reads about the diet. I read the 101 basics, but I havn't read in detail things like why you cant have rice, even brown rice, or milk which is a good sorce of calcium. I no its not what are ancestors eat, but its not like we're going to eat raw meat either, but our ancestors probably didnt have regular acess to cocunuts or cooking oils. Or explain why bread is out along with wholegrain. I understand the principles that make it what it is but since man has evolved shouldnt the paleo diet include some non caveman food? like something that includes calcuim? I take it that beer would be out of the diet? lol

anyway it sounds good and I want to give it a go but I would like some decant links to sites I can read for more information

isn't the whole point of making a web page to provide information to people and joining forums to impart your wisdom and knowledge to people that don't have the information you posses. Or if you require assistance ask for help. This had nothing to do with babysitting i have limited internet time so rather then search and find bad links, and start the diet wrong i thought id ask knowledgeable people for links to good sites that informed them on the diet that should give me the same decant information so i dont just wasting my internet time. Il leave paleohacks now go somewhere with nicer people

@WyldKard -- there shouldn't be locking of redundant threads (although that does happen) but it doesn't matter anyway -- what is easier to understand: 1) locking of redundant threads or 2) search?

@Patrik - Then maybe there needs to be better enforcement of locking redundant threads, so people understand they should search before asking. Do not enough users have the ability to do this? Or do they just not care to make use of this feature?

Because PaleoHackers should be encouraged to have some skin in the game and use PaleoHacks as a resource to do some homework -- not simply ask a general question that reeks of laziness.

No need to be snarky, Patrik. Yes, people should search before asking questions, but why put off newbies to the site with responses like this?

Funny you should ask: we are just now setting up a sort of introductory thread: http://paleohacks.com/questions/28585/meta-what-are-some-good-threads-for-people-who-are-new-to-the-site You'll see that one of the answers takes you to a list of paleo blogs (http://paleohacks.com/questions/6/good-paleo-blogs). Look for the highest-voted answers on that one and you'll be good to go.

Kev,

There is this totally wild and crazy thing called a "search bar" in the upper right of your screen. You can recognize it because it says "search". You might want to try there.

Haha... Actually there are a lot of Paleos who eat raw meat. :-). It just has to be natural pastured meat.
