New to Paleo, Rate my Diet Please :)

Just some backstory. I regularly work 10-12 hours daily, with little personal time so I needed to make my meals able to bring to work, and able to cook them in bulk during the weekend for the week. I also workout regularly, and am not trying to lose weight and right now am bulking. I eat 5-6 meals a day, and have tried my best to workout a good balanced diet on the paleo. Heres how my first week has been so far:

1

3 organic eggs
2 strips turkey bacon
fried in butter
smoothie: organic strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, flax seed, coconut milk

2

yogurt
organic apple + organic almond butter
1/2 cup raw almonds

3

1 chicken breast + 1 turkey breast
organic salad: baby spinach, tomatoes, spring mix
olive oil

4

pre workout whey shake with coconut milk
1/2 avocado with olive oil

5 post-workout

-rotate between beef/turkey/salmon/shrimp/tuna/etc
-1 cup broccoli
-sweet potato or plantain

6

-casein shake with almond milk

The Casein shake is fine. Not so much the Almond Milk.

He probably made those suggestions due to high omega 6 fatty acid content in turkey, flax and almonds. And I agree with Eric's suggestions.

I am usually on the move for work, not sedentary. I lift weights only and workout for mass. Currently I am 5'8'' 155lbs. I don't feel as if I am getting enough calories, I have found it challenging without the easy carbs before paleo.

What type of work (sedentary/physical)? What kind of workouts? What is your current weight? You may not be getting enough calories in, but that depends.

I'll be reading to see what people say about the casein shake.

Great job on your first week.

I would look for substitutes for the following:

turkey bacon
flax seed
almond milk

The below are OK but evetually you may want to limit the quanity:

organic almond butter 1/2 cup raw almonds

i am similar to soccertanker. i just eat two meals a day. it's more convenient that way instead of always eating. it just gets stressful. i prefer stuffing myself in the morning, doing my workout midday, and then chowing down at night.

your diet looks great to me. obviously, i wouldn't suggest protein shakes since it's better to eat whole foods. do what feels good for you though.

I would make bone broths, bone marrow, shanks, and eat some and freeze the rest for during the week. Eat the marrow of the bones. I wonder if you are eating enough, too. Depends on your size and weight and what you are doing during the day. Maybe add a mug or two of that at breakfast and during the day and cut down on your shakes. It would add fat and take away sugar. The bone marrow broths would be filling. I have three eggs cooked in bacon grease or butter, two bacon, marrow bone broth, avocado for breakfast and then am not hungry til really late in the day.

In my opinion, a diet with so many components, like yours, will be stressful to sustain for the long term. I would advise having bigger, less frequent meals.

Like you, I started off with snacks, but as time progressed, I ditched them and ate less and less meals. Currently, I eat 2 giant meals every day. It's something worth trying to see if it floats your boat.
